Safety Culture and Safety Climate: A Review of the Literature

Recent years have witnessed a growing concern over the issue of safety culture within high-risk industries. The purpose of the present review is to summarize and integrate the numerous reports and studies that have been conducted to define and assesses safety culture, as well as the highly related concept of safety climate. Safety professionals have increasingly turned their attention to social science for insight into the causation of industrial accidents. Studies have underlined the potential threats to occupational safety of this workforce. Surprisingly, however, very little research has been conducted on national culture and occupational safety. In this paper, we examine how national culture may play a role in important antecedents of safety behavior that have identified. We discuss safety knowledge, safety motivation, and safety climate. In this paper, there is keen definition; origin and factors of safety culture and safety climate are discussed based on literature collected.
